Something Urgent and Powerful

The Best in Art and Life

The best in art and life
comes from a center
something urgent and powerful
an ideal or emotion
that insists
on its being.

From that insistence
a shape emerges
and creates its structure

If you begin with a structure,
you have to make up the passion,

and that's very hard to do.
(Prose by Roger Rosenblatt redone as a poem by Margaret Wheatley)

I'm convinced each of us has inside a burning desire. The pilot light may be so low, so neglected over our hard-hitting work years, that we aren't even aware it is there. Or we may dismiss it as a silly dream of youth. At the outset of retirement coaching, we use online assessments and deep conversations to uncover that dream. We tug on the dream to reveal the elements that give powerful meaning to your life. Then begin designing a vibrant retirement life that is built around that meaning, that fire that "juices" you and makes you feel fully alive. Why not?

The Money Isn't Everything

Several years ago I became certified as a retirement coach. After a long career doing business coaching, leadership coaching, relationship coaching, -- coaching of almost every variety, I am now fusing all the knowledge and experience I've gained into helping people plan for vitality and fulfillment during "Act III" of life.

Retirement is all new, all changed from when it meant sitting in a rocker on a porch somewhere, ticking off the days. We can expect the retirement chapter of our lives to last thirty or more years. That's a long time on a porch! The new retirees want much more; they want to come into full bloom during these years and live the life they've only dreamed about.

You have plenty of information about financial planning for retirement. My coaching will guide you as you carve out the lifestyle you want. If you need referrals to the money experts, I will provide those. My expertise and passion, though, is in helping you discover what it will mean to finally, and fully live your own life.

There are inspiring examples of people doing exactly that and you will hear about them on this blog. If you want to send your own stories, please do.
